Competition course

The organization of the competition will take place on the website of the online contest. There, the current rating results are available.

As competition tasks just completely flown triangles are taken with a minimum flight distance of 400 km in the standings. This, itself created by the pilot task must have been entered in the logger before the flight. It may only be used by the International Gliding Commission (IGC ) approved logger.

If the triangle does not meet the conditions of the FAI, 12.5% of the points earned will be deducted. These conditions describe an expansive roughly triangular, pointed triangles are not counted. For each kilometer of flight of the task, the pilot receives a point. The score is corrected with the handicap factor of the aircraft ( plane index).

With the help of the handicap factor, the pilot power with the aircraft performance data is compared. This factor is to be divided in accordance with a value between 0.5 to 1.4 between 50 and 140 The points achieved. A (very) bad Glider corresponds to the value 50, so it doubles the points scored.

Every pilot can over the rating period of two years report as many flights as they want. The highest point in each flight will be scored. A pilot may enter only in the region of flights, in which he has his permanent residence. The recorded flight data in the logger must have been delegated seven days after the flight has taken place on the website at the latest.

In a tie for a place within a day's standings, wins the pilot with the earlier arrival, the daily standings. If this distinction can not be upheld, a coin is tossed.

In the event of a dispute, the decision of the Competition Director is binding. The contest begins on March 15th of each odd year and ends two years later on March 14.

The rating applies worldwide in five regions instead:

  • Region 1: Europe and Asia

The price

All winners of a region / class of aircraft will be invited with a company of their choice on the Flying M Ranch in Nevada. There they have the opportunity to meet the best glider pilots in the world.

To promote the strengthening fellowship, no contests between the pilots will take place.

From the time at the ranch, there are often friendships that last a lifetime. This allow for was one of the main concerns of the two founders of the BHC.

During a pilot the BHC can basically win more than once, he receives an invitation to the ranch once in a lifetime. If he wins one more time, the ranking of the next region and class will be invited to the ranch.

If there are more than three winners from the same state in the region 1, then only the three invited who have the largest relative distance of points to each second- placed. The other invitations will go to the runner-up in other countries ( in the region 1), provided that they are not worse than 80 % of the winners of their classes.
