Geography

Bartelshagen II b. Barth is located between the cities of Barth and Ribnitz Damgarten in a nearly level area in the immediate hinterland of the Saal Bodden. Through the south of the district of Saaler stream flows, in the north there is a large, partly swampy forest area expands to Barthe from ( Barth city wood).

History

1316 Bartelshagen was first mentioned. The will of the prince Witzlaw III. of Rügen regulated herein transfers all its Gutsbesitzes to Barth citizens. In Bartelshagen some well-known shipbuilders were born, so in 1740 Nicolaus commander Ling, the founder of commander Ling shipyard in Damgarten. There, in particular, barks, brigs and schooners were built.

After the Thirty Years War to the year 1815, the farming village belonged to Swedish Pomerania and then to the Prussian province of Pomerania.

The former parish was until 1952 part of the district Pommern -Barth and belonged then to 1994 to the circle Ribnitz Damgarten in the district of Rostock.
