Bartolomeo Coda

Bartolomeo Coda called Bartolomeo da Rimini ( detectable from 1516; † December 26, 1565 in Rimini) was an Italian painter.

Bartolomeo Coda was a son of Benedetto Coda, and was probably trained by this. From 1516, he worked in his workshop in Rimini. Starting no later than 1537, he took over its management. Around 1528 he received from the Brotherhood Rochus an order for a Madonna with St. Roch, Sebastian and angels who did not receive. Whether it is identical with the former only fragmentary image in the Hildesheim Museum, which burned in 1945, is not clear.

In 1531 he received to paint, together with his father's order, for Domenico church in Cesena a Madonna with God the Father and the Holy James, Christopher and Catherine. The image can be no longer detected. In 1541 he received from the Sebastian Brotherhood in Rimini order for a Saint Sebastian with Saints Roch and St. Vincent Ferrer. For 1544 a member of the city council is documented. In 1549 he painted from a guest room at the Palazzo Comunle. The work is not obtained.

In the following years, many other jobs, altarpieces and frescoes, of predominantly Catholic institutions, which have been preserved only in part. In addition, he also received orders from Dalmatia, where he sent some of his works. At the latest in 1562 he decided to become probably Dominican monk.

Artistic his works are close to those of his father, with a clear influence by the art of Raphael is recognizable. Its characterized by deep religious feelings works seem old-fashioned and are dry. They show a barely evolving style.
