Barton W. Stone

Barton Warren Stone ( born December 24, 1772 in Port Tobacco Village, Maryland, † November 9, 1844 in Hannibal, Missouri ) was a Christian minister and co-founder of the North American Church Christian Church ( Disciples of Christ ).

Life

Stone was born into an Anglican family. He studied theology at the Guilford Academy in North Carolina, where he heard James McGready, among others, and was a Presbyterian clergyman. Together with Thomas Campbell, he founded the Christian Church ( Disciples of Christ ) and formed with him the Restoration Movement in the United States.
