Battery (band)

Battery was an American hardcore punk band from Washington DC, which was founded in 1990 and disbanded again in 1998.

Guitarist and frontman Ken Olden also played at Damnation AD, Better Than a Thousand, When Tigers Fight, Worlds Collide, Far Cry and Fort Knox. He also played bass with Youth of Today on their reunion tour through Europe in 2003.

Singer Brian McTernan, a record producer in the hardcore punk area, owns his own studio called Salad Days Studio in Baltimore. He also played in the bands Ashes, Miltown and My Best Mistake.

History

Battery was founded under the name Fury in 1990. In 1991 they released a self-titled 7 "single in deadlock Records. On the recorded music could be heard Brian McTernan as a singer, Ken Olden and Matt Squire on guitar, Toshi Yano as a bassist and Zac Eller as a drummer. The songs of this single were later re-recorded and released on the EP We Will not Fall in 1993. the EP was released on the German label Lost & Found Records.

The band increased its notoriety in Europe, especially in Germany. This was followed by changes in the cast, so that alongside Brian McTernan and Ken Olden now bassist Ben Chused and drummer Al Rosenberg in the band were. Then followed a tour through Europe. Their debut album called Only the Diehard Remain was in 1994, published in Tidal Records ( USA) and Lost & Found Records (Europe). On the album and the 7 Seconds cover We're Gonna Fight was heard. The song was heard Ken Olden as a guitarist and drummer. In the same year they released the EP Let the Past Go, as well as a split-single with Ignite. Both were released on Lost & Found Records.

In 1996 they released the next album called Until the End, with Young Till I Die was to hear another 7 Seconds artwork on. In addition, the band with Jason Hamacher now had a new drummer, who was also members of the band Frodus. Ben Chused left the band and played drums in the band Ten Yard Fight. He was replaced by Graham Land, which was also guitarist for Better Than a Thousand. There was a larger tour of the U.S. along with Ten Yard Fight and a tour of Europe with Damnation AD.

Their third album, Whatever It Takes was released on Revelation Records in 1998. Following the publication of a tour followed by Europe and the United States along with Better Than a Thousand, In My Eyes and Speak 714

After the release, the band split due to differences between Brian McTernan and Ken Olden. In 2002, the compilation Final Fury was: 1990-1997 published by the Spanish Hardcore label Soul Force Records.

Style

The band plays a mix of new school and old-school hardcore, with influences from the rock can be heard.
