Battle of Kock (1939)

The Battle of Kock took place near the central Polish town of Kock during the Second World War between the 2nd and October 5, 1939. It was the last battle of the Polish campaign. Units of the Polish " Independent Operations Group Polesia " (Polish: Grupa Samodzielna Operacyjna Polesie ) under General Franciszek Kleeberg fought against associations of the German XIV Motorized Corps under General Gustav von Wietersheim. The battle ended on the morning of October 6 with the surrender of Polish units after their ammunition was exhausted. With the end of hostilities came 17,000 Polish soldiers in German captivity.
