Battles (Band)

Battles is an American Konzept-/Prog-/Mathrockband from Brooklyn, New York City, which was founded in 2003.

Band History

The band consists of the three musicians Ian Williams ( Don Caballero - Ex ), Dave Konopka ( ex- Lynx ) and John Stanier ( Ex-Helmet/Tomahawk ). After the first releases on Dim Mak they signed for their C / B EP signed to Warp Records. 2007 she released her debut album mirrored. 2011 released their second album called Gloss Drop. The singer Tyondai Braxton got out recently, which is why the album is largely instrumental. Only four of songs were as a guest vocalist Matias Aguayo, Gary Numan, Kazu Makino, and Yamantaka Eye used.

Live they opened for, among others, The Mars Volta. In 2008, she played among others on the Moers Festival.

Style

Their music ranges from Rock, Pop, Experimental, Electronic and improvisation. Instead of just giving up the initial waiver of singing, put the four on distorted, electronically distorted vocal lines. However, these do not cancel as such by the musical overall impression, but form as a supplement.
