The Bavarian Forest is a ticket introduced in 1999 Verbundtarif offer in the counties of rain and Freyung -Grafenau in the Bavarian Forest for the bus and rail transport. History

The Bavarian Forest ticket was created as a joint tariff offer the operators of various tourist oriented public transport networks.

Thus, a dense, daily bus system for hikers, the so-called hedgehog buses was set up in 1995 between the National Park Towns Spiegelau Grafenau Neuschönau and Mauth in the summer season from May to October.

In 1997, the Regentalbahn took over under the brand name Forest Railway operating implementation on the railway platform Ling -Zwiesel, Bavarian Eisenstein and the two branch routes to ground corn and Grafenau. Subsequently, the sections were replaced, new vehicles were purchased and set up a clock traffic on all three routes in 2003.

Around Zwiesel around there with the Falkenstein buses on two lines of a similar bus concept as in the southern Bavarian forest. This system was also integrated in the hedgehog buses.

In order to make more convenient and easier to use these three transport systems and the regional bus lines, efforts were made to a collective cooperation. On the part of the district of rain, the project office National Park traffic plan coordinated these efforts on the part of the operator of a collective bargaining unit under the chairmanship of the regional bus eastern Bavaria. This offer was also flanked by a common timetable booklet. First, this offer was available only in the season of the hedgehog bus routes. Once this has been extended to the winter season, the ticket is offered throughout the year from 2004. Since then, a winter timetable leaflet is also available in addition.

In 2010, Based introduced the " guest service environment Ticket " on the Bavarian Forest ticket. In this guest card of participating communities is regarded as the Bavarian Forest ticket corresponding ticket during the holiday stay. The sales figures subsequently declined by a third.

As of April 28, 2012, the Bavarian Forest ticket is also valid for the Ilztalbahn GmbH on the railway line Freyung- Roehrnbach.

Tariff

The price of this ticket is 7 euros per day ( as of 2010) and includes the bus and train lines of the two counties mentioned rain and Freyung -Grafenau and the railroad in the Oberpfalzbahn between Kötzting and Lam, in the district of Cham. Additional Offering Bavarian Forest ticket plus the price of 14 euros applies in addition also on the railway line between God and cell Plattling in the district of Deggendorf. A temporary offered family ticket was reinstated.

International Networking

The Bavarian Forest Ticket is valid both in the Forest Railway and in the buses of the RBO and RDS for trips to the Czech Špičák or Železná Ruda.
