The railway Bayreuth New Market Wirsberg is a single-track main line in Bavaria. After commissioning the Schlömener curve it is since 10 June 2001 Part piece of the so-called Sachsen- Franken- Magistrale from Dresden to Nuremberg.

History

The route from New Market to Bayreuth was the first Bavarian railway line, which was built by a contract with the State (lease Railway Act ). The town of Bayreuth funded bridge systems and then leased them to the Bavarian state.

On November 28, 1853 was opened by the Royal Bavarian State Railways as a branch line from the Ludwig South - North Railway and one of the first branch lines in Bavaria. In 1905 the lease line was nationalized.

Locally Schlömen branched off December 28, 1896, the railway 's New Market - from (bath ) Berneck, which was extended in 1898 to Bishop Green. From New Market to Schlömen where the block location was the interlocking, the trains used the track with the lease car. At Whitsun 1986 sailed for the last time a unit train with several cars the route. The last still in the freight section of Schlömen operated by Lanz village was finally shut down on 30 June 2006.

Route description

The route leaves the station New Market Wirsberg in a southerly direction and pivots soon to the southwest, while only the Laubbach and then the White Main follows just under two kilometers. On the outskirts of Schlömen the former branch line to Bishop Green branches off the switch and a subsequent piece of track still exist. The breakpoint Schlömen was established in 1896 and is no longer in operation.

Nearest station and the first station is Trebgast where the state road in 2183, the route crosses twice in quick succession on the same level. The track on the main platform and the loading track are gone, only the long crossover track still exists. This will take place as scheduled train crossings. The semaphore signals were removed in 2012, shut down the lever signal box on March 22, 2012. As the Harsdorfer lever signal box it is being transferred to a museum that Bindlacher lever signal box to be used as spare parts.

The route follows the main road to Bayreuth at the eastern edge of the wide valley of the river Trebgast. Halfway to Harsdorf the web passes from a manned level crossing protected road to Neudrossenfeld and then parallel to the road passes under the motorway A 70

In Harsdorf branched earlier - come from Bayreuth before the railway crossing - a long industry track to the local malt factory from what Harsdorf made the most important intermediate station of the route. This track has not been used already in the 1980s and dismantled in the early 1990s. The Station Harsdorf is also now only two tracks. The route is already here from northeast to southwest, to turn to the breakpoint Ramsenthal south. Then the so -da- bridge underpasses, which was for years as a symbol of expensive faulty planning until the end of 2012 [ deprecated] to be but connected to the road. The village community has, however, taken with the closure of the level with any railroad crossing, the shortest way to Bindlach and Bayreuth.

In Bindlach train station in the area once commonly encountered points harness with two freight tracks and the goods shed will also be non -existent. The disused signal box lever is in May 2012 but still exists and can be one of the last copies of its kind in Upper Franconia, but are easily visible. The barrier on the Ruhstraße will continue to be operated mechanically. In 2006, a new platform for the track 1 was about 50 m south of the train station, who did not can be obtained directly from the station. The platform for the track 2 remained at the old location to receive and is protected by a pedestrian barrier.

South of the station Bindlach the Bayreuth city area is achieved. There are goods sidings (including a waste transfer station ) and a Panzerverladerampe, which was used until the 1990s. The coming of the east route from Warmensteinach was previously performed in parallel and independently in the Bayreuth Central Station. During construction of the Hoferstraße it was a few years ago, has been added as a new bridge, introduced just before this in the lease car. Parallel and exits on the two routes have since no longer possible.

Overall, the subgrade without significant up and down gradients runs relatively flat. The lowest point is the Trebgast Station, the highest point is Bindlach. The minimum curve radius is located on the northern outskirts of Trebgast. Same level crossings exist in several places, they are largely secured by light signals and barrier systems. The only significant Kunstbau is the three-arched sandstone bridge over the White Main.

Schlömener curve
