Beaune-d'Allier

Beaune- d'Allier ( Occitan Beuna ) is a commune of 290 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Allier in the Auvergne region; it belongs to the district and Montlucon to Canton Montmarault.

Geography

Beaune- d'Allier located 23 kilometers southeast of Montlucon. In the municipality stems from the Œil, a tributary of the Aumance. In the south the city borders on the Puy-de -Dôme.

The neighboring towns of Beaune- d'Allier are Saint -Bonnet -de-Four in the north, Blomard in the northeast, Vernusse the southeast, Lapeyrouse in the south, Hyds in the southwest and Louroux- de -Beaune in the north- east.

Name

Originally called the place Belna. This name derives from the Celtic deity Belenus. After the French Revolution, the church was established in 1793 under the name Baune. Since 1937, it bears the name Beaune- d'Allier.

The church of Saint -Aignan de Beaune is a Romanesque church, which, however, has changed considerably over time. It originated in the 12th century and was extended especially in the 16th and 19th centuries. Named after the church is Aignan of Orléans. In the district Salbrune south of the village center, the remains of the Château de Salbrune are from the year 1689th The object is entered in the additional directory of the base Mérimée ( Monument historique ).
