Belgian Eifel

As a Belgian Eifel is understood that part of the North and West Eifel, which is beyond the Belgian border. The term is not used consistently, since the boundary is smooth to the Ardennes in the area of the High Fens.

The following areas may be counted in the Belgian Eifel:

  • Part of the Aspen Forest ( western part of the North Eifel) to the extent that this plateau continues to Belgium towards Bütgenbach
  • The westernmost part of the Schnee Eifel ( Ommer forest ) and the German -speaking area around St. Vith
  • The High Fens ( Hautes Fagnes ) that can be counted but also to the Ardennes
  • Geologically and geographically are to be expected for the Eifel and the Eupen.
  • A small part of Ösling ( hill country in northern Luxembourg ).
