Belgian Hockey League

The Eredivisie is the highest Hockey class in Belgium. The League, in the since 1912, the Belgian national champion is played, organized the Königlisch -Belgian Hockey Association RBIHF. Record holder is the Brussels Royal IHSC with a total of 23 titles.

History

The Belgian Hockey League was first held in 1912. Since then there have been several interruptions in the play mode. For the first time paused the league due to the First World 1914 war until 1920. The next break there was due to the global economic crisis and therefore the game operation in the years 1929 to 1934 fell again. So far, to the third and last time, no hockey was played in Belgium's highest ice hockey league in the 1994/95 season. Of the six teams that come to play in the 2008/ 09 season in the Belgian Hockey League four from the Dutch-speaking part of the country and two from the French-speaking. Champion in the 2008/ 09 season was the HYC Herentals. They had to be in the season 2009/ 10 against the Chiefs Leuven in the finals defeated, celebrated their second championship title in the season.

In the 2010/11 season, the Belgian Hockey League was not played. The two Belgian teams HYC Herentals and Turnhout White Caps took part in the North Sea Cup the Dutch Association and played after its end in a best - of-seven - round the Belgian champions. 2011/12 took the Chiefs Leuven also on the North Sea Cup part and the three teams played the Ehrendividion from.

For the 2012/13 season HYC Herentals was included in the Dutch Eredivisie. The Belgian Hockey League was increased by the clubs of the previous second league.
