The Laekenois is the rough -haired variant of the Belgian Shepherd, an organization recognized by the FCI Belgian breed (FCI Group 1, Section 1, Standard No. 15).

He is the rarest representatives of this breed, but is the other variants of the Belgian Shepherd, especially the Malinois, in terms of job satisfaction, docility and aptitude for sports and service in every way.

Like the three other fur variants Groenendael, Malinois and Tervueren the Laekenois is maintained primarily as protection and family dog ​​.
