Believer (band)

Believer is a Christian, progressive thrash metal band from Colebrook, Pennsylvania, USA, which was founded in 1986.

History

The band was founded in 1986 by Kurt Bachman ( guitar, vocals) and Joey Daub (drums). A short time later met guitarist and bassist Dave Baddorf Howe force the band. A short time later, the band reached a deal with REX Records. The debut album Extraction from Reality was published in 1989 when this label. Thus, the band reached the attention of Roadrunner Records. The second album Sanity Obscure was published in 1990. Wyatt Robertson was heard on the album as the new bassist. This was followed by a tour of Europe together with Sacrifice and Bolt Thrower.

After the tour, leaving guitarist and bassist Baddorf Robertson. For the third album Violinist Scott Laird, his sister Julianne Laird appeared as a singer and cellist Glenn Fischbach as session members to the band. Jim Winters became the new bassist for the band. The album, Dimensions, was released in 1993. In 1995, the band broke up for the time being.

The band was found in 2007 back together to release the album Gabriel. In addition to Bachman and Daub keyboardist and programmer Jeff King, guitarist Kevin Leaman and bassist and programmer Elton Nestler now were part of the band. The band was from this point on Metal Blade Records.

In 2011, Elton Nestler left the band and went into the studio again to record the next album. The album Transhuman was released in April 2011 via Metal Blade Records.

Style

Believer play technically challenging thrash metal which is often referred to as " Technical Thrash Metal" or " Progressive Thrash Metal". The singing is kept variable. The pieces are also very varied, as a technical elements such as samples, but also elements from classical music to be used. The band is compared with other bands like Anacrusis, Toxik, Realm and Extol.
