Sacrifice (Band)

Sacrifice is a Canadian thrash metal band from Toronto, which was founded in 1983.

History

The band was founded in late 1983 by guitarist Rob Urbinati and Joe Rico. A short time later joined drummer Andrew Banks to the band. Together they began to cover versions of Judas Priest and Black Sabbath einzuspielen. Bassist Scott Watts later joined the band as drummer Andrew Banks was replaced by Craig Boyle. With singer John Baldy the installation was completed. On January 12, 1984, the band played their first gig at Larry 's Hideaway in Toronto, which was followed by an appearance in Ontario. Then guitarist Urbinati also took over the post of the singer, while singer Boyle left the band. Ernie Fletch became the new drummer, but the band of this separated after only one concert on March 23, 1985 at Larry 's Hideaway again. Gus Pynn replaced Fletch on drums. This was followed by some more local gigs, among others, along with Slaughter.

On June 16, 1985, the demo The Exorcism was taken. Thus, the band released their notoriety increased, compromising Sacrifice could play as the opening band for Exodus in August 1985. Thus, the band reached an agreement with Diabolic Force. In the autumn of 1985 the band entered the Future Sound studio to record the debut album Torment in Fire. The album was released in the same year, with Metal Blade Records in the U.S. and Roadrunner Records in Europe. Was published until the album, the band was already working on new songs and ended the end of 1985. In July 1986, the band went into the Open Sound studio to record another demo. It was followed by an appearance in Kitchener, Ontario, with Megadeth as the opening band for King Diamond. In September, followed by an appearance in Quebec City and another on the No Speed ​​Limit Festival along with bands like Possessed, Voivod, DRI and Agnostic Front in Montreal. Another appearance along with Slayer followed in Toronto.

In January 1987, followed by concerts in Detroit and Chicago, the first performances outside Canada. Until April 1987 was followed by other appearances in Canada. Then the band went into the Grant Avenue Studio in Toronto to record the album Forward to Termination. It was re-released on Diabolic Force, or via Metal Blade and Roadrunner Records for other regions. A music video for the song Re - Animation was made also. It was followed by appearances at the Milwaukee Metalfest in July 1987 along with bands like Death Angel, Trouble and King Diamond. In November 1987 was followed by an appearance along with Nuclear Assault. Followed by appearances in Ottawa, Quebec and Montreal in December.

In December 1988, the band went back into the studio to record a new demo, bassist Scott Watts played by the electric guitar. A few days later Sacrifice occurred as the opening band for Motörhead. In 1989, the band recorded another demo. A few months later, the band entered the Phase One Studio in Toronto to record another album. It was produced by Joe Primeau and Brian Taylor. Diabolic Force Records continued to be the label of the tape while Metal Blade drove the album called Soldiers of Misfortune world. The album was released in 1991. Moreover, it was also a video for the song S.O.M. published. Towards the end of the year was followed by a tour with Razor. Drummer Gus Pynn left a little later, the band and was replaced by Mike Rosenthal. In 1991, a tour was followed by the UK along with Bolt Thrower and Believer.

In 1993, the album Apocalypse Inside Metal Blade Records has been published. It was produced by Dave Carlo ( guitarist with Razor ). During the summer, also bassist Scott Watts was traveling by Kevin Winberley replaced. After a tour of the U.S. in the same year, when the band Death had supported, there Sacrifice broke up for the time being.

In 2006, the band reunited. In 2010 they released the album The Ones I Condemn.

Sacrifice plays typical 1980s thrash metal and is compared with other bands of the genre such as Kreator, Slayer and Exodus.
