Trouble (Band)

Trouble is an American doom metal band that applies not only to Saint Vitus as one of the most important and influential artists of the genre in the 1980s. Their musical roots lie claims to be in bands of the early 1970s, such as Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Budgie, and especially Black Sabbath. Despite public attention in the press Trouble was never able to achieve great commercial success, enjoying the scene but for many years a cult status.

History

The band Trouble comes from Chicago ( Illinois) and has been active since 1979. In the years 1980 to 1983, the band recorded some demos and the single Assassin on and published in 1984, the song The Last Judgement on the compilation Metal Massacre IV

In the initial phase the band consisted of Eric Wagner ( vocals), Bruce Franklin ( guitar), Rick Wartell (guitar), Jeff Olsen ( drums) and Ian Brown ( bass). Brown was replaced by Sean McAllister in 1983. On the first two albums Trouble ( also known under the name of Psalm 9 ) (1984) and The Skull (1985 ), both released on Metal Blade Records, Trouble played straight, heavy Heavy Metal with Black Sabbath influences. The lyrics often deal with Christian themes; the delineation of former bands that were assigned because of their satanic lyrics to Black Metal, the band of Metal Blade was advertised with the name White Metal, of which the members of the band later, however distant.

However, the band is often associated with still the White Metal, even by musicians such as King Diamond, who went on tour with Trouble, its members, however, did not perceive as " hardcore Christians" and their texts than was vague for Stryper. In contrast to bands like Stryper it never went Trouble also trying to convert fans to Christianity.

In 1987, the third LP Run to the Light, while Sean McAllister and Jeff Olsen was replaced by drummer Dennis Lesh and bassist Ron Holzner. The music was now more fluid, yet without abandoning the doom metal sector. The band was invited by King Diamond to open for him in America. In the course of this successful tour Def American boss Rick Rubin became aware of trouble and took the band under contract. Dennis Lesh got out and joined the band Stygian, with whom he recorded in 1992 the album Planetary Destruction; Since 1995 he plays for Chastain. Barry Stern took over Leshs place on drums.

Together, in 1990 the band produced the re- titled only with Trouble album, which was referred to in the press as a masterpiece of doom metal. The great success in the audience did not come, however. Nearly two years later, in 1992 Manic Frustration, that sounds similar to cumbersome, but clearly offers more variety. The record sold, again despite good reviews, even worse than its predecessor, which led to banishment from Def American.

The band recorded at his own expense to the four songs -containing mini-CD One for the Road, which they sold true to the title at the concerts of the 1994 tour in Germany at the merchandise stands. They took very good sales and helped trouble to a new record deal. In addition, the founding member Jeff Olson returned to the band. 1995 by Vince Wojno ( Machine Head ) appeared remixed album Plastic Green Head. In the pouring rain, the band performed in 1995 for the third time at Dynamo Open Air. Then they broke apart, however; Singer Eric Wagner was later a member of the band eyelid.

It was some time quietly to the former members of Trouble. In 2003 there was a reunion of the band. Trouble subsequently went several times at various festivals, including that of the Aardschock magazine, on. After various technical and private difficulties, the recording of the new album attracted prolonged periods.

2005 White Stallion Records the Compilation Demos & Rarities 1980-95 appeared with older material and some unreleased songs in an edition of 500 copies. 2006 there appeared also the limited edition of 500 copies compilation Demos & Rarities 1985-94.

In 2006, the DVD Live in Stockholm has been published, and put the Escapi Music debut in 1984 under the title of Psalm 9 and The Skull 1985 with a more elaborate presentation reopen it. Finally released the album Simple Mind Condition in March 2007. After the band went on U.S. and European tour. Shortly afterwards appeared an unplugged album.

On 2 May 2008 it was announced that Eric Wagner had left the band amicably and was replaced by Kory Clarke ( Warrior Soul ). During the U.S. tour in 2008 then also announced drummer Jeff Olson that he no longer together working with Trouble. As a substitute Marko came Lira, drummer Rick Wartells band Wet Animal.

After nearly four years, singer Kory Clarke rose in February 2012 again left the band. His place was taken by Kyle Thomas ( Exhorder, Floodgate, Alabama Thunderpussy ), who had been standing at the end of the 1990s several times with Trouble on the stage. With Thomas, the band then took on even their eighth studio album The Distortion Field, which was released in summer 2013.
