History

After the land was previously inhabited by the Sioux, it was in 1851 by the Treaty of Traverse of the Sioux to the U.S. government. Only a strip of land at the Minnesota River remained the Indians and was to Reservation land.

In the 1860s, the land was surveyed and approved for resettlement. In 1884, the railroad and thus more settlers came to the region. 1887 established a post office by the U.S. government to penetrate the settlers of the area.
