Ben Hankinson

Ben Hankinson ( born May 1, 1969 in Edina, Minnesota ) is a retired American professional ice hockey player who was active during his active career, among other things, for the New Jersey Devils and Tampa Bay Lightning in the National Hockey League.

Career

Ben Hankinson began his career in high school at the Edina Hornets, for which he was active from 1985 to 1987. He then went from 1987 to 1991 for the ice hockey team of the University of Minnesota in the National Collegiate Athletic Association on the ice and scored in a total of 156 games 135 points scorer. During this time, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1987 in the sixth round of a total of 107 position of the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League. In the 1991/92 season he was exclusively for their farm team, the Utica Devils in the American Hockey League action and could rely to immediately earn a regular place in the team. He completed 81 games, scored 37 points and received a total of 188 penalty minutes. In the 1992/93 season Hankinson debuted in the NHL and was in four games for the New Jersey Devils in action, in which he scored twice and gave one assist.

In the same season he was mostly for the Utica Devils of the AHL on the ice and has doubled its yield points compared to last year almost. In 80 games he scored 66 points, so he was in that season 's third- best scorer in the Utica Devils. In the following season, the offensive player in the NHL could not prevail, and stood in 15 games for the New Jersey Devils, scoring two points. As a result, Hankinson was mostly active for the Albany River Rats. On March 14, 1995, he was discharged together with Alexander Semak in a barter transaction to the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for Shawn Chambers and Danton Cole went to the Devils.

Hankinson graduated up to the end of the season 18 games for the Lightning and scored two points. On 17 August 1995, the attacker was sent along with Marc Bergevin in a barter trade to the Detroit Red Wings. He spent the entire 1995/96 season in the farm team of the Red Wings, the Adirondack Red Wings in the American Hockey League and had there to the permanent employees. In the following two seasons, he was one season for the Grand Rapids Griffins and Orlando Solar Bears of the International Hockey League action. Then Hankinson ended his active career.
