Bénabar
Bénabar ( born June 16, 1969 in Thiais; actually Bruno Nicolini ) is a French singer. His stage name is a syllable by twisting ( Verlan ) formed shape of the nickname " Barnabas ", which he had received from his friend and former stage companion Patchol in joint appearances.
Life
Bénabar grew up as the son of a librarian and a director on set in a Parisian suburb. After the Baccalauréat and a stay in the United States, he trained as a photographer and did an internship as an assistant director, during which he made his first short film.
Until the early nineties Bénabar worked as a short film makers. For José Jeanette (1992 ) he received several awards, including the "Prix Spécial du Jury " at Montreal. He was also a writer for The produced by Canal Comedy Series H and La Famille Guérin.
At the age of 25 years, Bénabar turned to music and wrote, composed and interpreted his first songs. Together with his " associés " he published in 1997 his first album, La Monnaie P'tite, which was, however, perceived only by a narrow circle of connoisseurs of music.
Just four years later, some of the titles of his second album Bénabar were on the radio (especially on the station France Inter) broadcast and Bénabar received the opportunity to perform in the opening act of the singer Henri Salvador. This was followed by a tour and two more studio albums, which met with a larger audience.
In the Victoires de la Musique 2004 Bénabar received the award for the best French-language album for his third album, Les Risques du métier. On March 10, 2007 as part of the 22nd edition of the TV gala Victoires de la Musique, Bénabar received the award for " Best Male Singer of the Year ", as well as the prize in the category " Chanson de l' année original " for his title Le Dîner.
The release of his fourth album reprise of Négociations in October 2005 was followed by a tour in France, Switzerland and Belgium. The album was recorded in France with triple platinum and diamond. His fifth album Infrequentable appeared on 13 October 2008, L' Effet papillon and à la campagne were released as singles. In February 2009 Bénabar went again on tour.
Bénabars texts describe (often in a humorous or cynical way ) everyday, the Company and certain life stages. Thus the transition from the carefree life of a teenager, to an adult is a recurrent theme in his songs ( Y'a chez moi une fille qu'habite, monospace ). Musically, his songs are often arranged sparingly to minimalist. The dominant instruments are accordion, piano and brass instruments, occasionally influences of jazz can be heard.
In May 2004, Bénabar one son. In 2007, he supported Ségolène Royal in the presidential campaign.
