Benjamin Vulliamy

Benjamin Vulliamy ( born August 27, 1747 in Fields, Leicestershire, † December 25, 1811 in Westminster ) was an English clock and chronometer maker.

His father was a watchmaker Justin Vulliamy. From 1775 he took over the workshop of his father in London's Pall Mall and manufactured precision pendulum clocks for observatories as well as pocket watches and chronometers. From 1800 he was court watchmaker of King George III. , For which he, inter alia, a precision pendulum clock made ​​. His son Benjamin Louis Vulliamy (1780-1854) later took over the workshop.

An astronomical clock by Vulliamy was, for example, also from 1813 in the Ducal Observatory in Jena.

Since over three generations, the watches were numbered consistently and part of the workshop books at the British Horological Institute are obtained in the Vulliamy watches most accurate dating is possible, which allows interesting insights into the development of the watch technology of the time. A history of the family is published in the British Antiquarian Horological Society in book form.

With his wife Sarah De Gingins (1758-1841) he had eleven children.
