Bernard Agré

Cardinal Bernard Agre ( born March 2, 1926 in Monga, Côte d'Ivoire) is Archbishop Emeritus of Abidjan.

Life

Bernard Agre studied Catholic theology and received in 1953 the priest. A doctoral studies at the Pontifical University of Urbania, he finished with obtaining the doctorate in the Department of Canon Law. He was a seminar director and parish priest in Treichville and was vicar general of the Archdiocese of Abidjan. On December 8, 1961 he was awarded Pope John XXIII. the honorary title house Prelate of His Holiness.

From 1968 to 1992 he was the first bishop of Man, then from 1992 to 1994 Bishop of the newly erected Diocese of Yamoussoukro. Since 1994 he was archbishop of Abidjan.

The College of Cardinals is one of Bernard Agre since the consistory of 21 February 2001 as a cardinal priest with the titular church of San Giovanni Crisostomo, a Monte Sacro Alto on.
