Bernard Vitet

Bernard Vitet ( born May 26, 1934 in Paris, † July 3, 2013 ) was a French jazz trumpeter and composer.

Life and work

Vitet, born in 1934 in Paris, located in 1952 became interested after attending a jazz concert for making music. He buys a trumpet, and puts forward two years later the first professional experiences, first with Django Reinhardt, Hubert Rostaing, Alix Combelle, Gus Viseur, Jef Gilson and Jean -Louis Chautemps. In 1964 he founded the first free-jazz group in France with François Tusques, Jean -François Jenny -Clark and Aldo Romano and participates in all the major festivals in France. He played longer with the Michel Portal Unit, with Steve Lacy, Barney Wilen, Sunny Murray and Alan Silva, but also with Don Cherry, Johnny Griffin, Albert Ayler, Archie Shepp, the Art Ensemble of Chicago and the Globe Unity Orchestra.

In parallel, he wrote film music and was active for the first time in an interdisciplinary project with writings by Francis Ponge. From the mid- 1970s, he worked with Jean -Jacques Birgé and Francis Gorgé and founded with them the existing until his death group Un drame musical Instant, where the name is for the program to invent out of the moment musical dramas. The group took its own expense and on their own on 17 albums ( and also even movies ), the trio is supplemented to large formations.

Later Vitet went back reinforced to composing. He also invented instruments.
