Bernd Friedmann

Bernd Friedmann (born 1965 in Coburg, also Burnt Friedman ) is a German musician and producer who works under different project names in the fields of electronica, dub and jazz.

Life

Friedman grew up in Kassel. From 1986 to 1990 he studied at the Art Academy Fine Arts. His first recordings were from 1978 Since 1990, sound recordings were released under the following project name.:

  • Some More Crime (1990-1995, Friedmann and Frank Hernandez )
  • Drome (1991-1995, Friedmann and Frank Hernandez )
  • Nonplace Urban Field (1992-1997)
  • Flanger (1999 - Friedman and Atom Heart )
  • Burnt Friedman & The Nu Dub Players ( 1999 - )
  • Burnt Friedman & Jaki Liebezeit (2002 -)
  • Nine Horses (2005 - Friedman and David Sylvian )

Friedmann's music is rarely a clear lane. His instruments ranging from samplers, drums, analog synths and organs up to instruments like toy piano, steel drum, kalimba, vibraphone, melodica. Over the years, his unique sound has become a trademark that makes him in remixes of songs written by other instantly recognizable.

Since 2000, Friedmann runs the record label Nonplace.
