Bernhard I of Werle

Bernhard I, Lord of Werle (* 1245, † 1286 ); was from 1277-1281 to Mr. Werle and from 1281-1286 to Mr. Prisannewitz.

He was the son of Nicholas I and Jutta von Anhalt. In a document for the first time in 1273 his name was mentioned.

After the death of his father in 1277 he reigned first with his brothers Henry I and John I about Werle. In 1281 it was decided to divide and Bernhard took over control of the part Prisannewitz. On March 9, 1282, his name appeared for the last time in a document. When he died was called only on March 3, 1288 by his nephew Nicholas II. Probable year of death is 1286. He was buried in Doberan Minster. Wives and children were not used in documents from him.
