Bernhard Landauer

Bernhard Landauer ( born July 20, 1970 in Innsbruck) is an Austrian counter-tenor or alto.

After the first concert and stage experience as soprano soloist with the Wiltener boys (Innsbruck ), he studied at the Vienna Academy of Music singing with Helen and Kurt Karusso Equiluz. He received further training from Karl -Heinz Jarius in Frankfurt am Main.

In addition to the performance of early music irritates it, too, the interpretation of literature, which is rather unusual for a countertenor. So he sang Schubert's Winterreise, the Krämerspiegel by Richard Strauss, Fyodor in Mussorgsky's Boris Godunov or the original for falsettierenden baritone composed piece by Iannis Xenakis Kassandra. With premieres of works by Alfred Schnittke, Giorgio Battistelli and other composers of the 20th and 21st centuries, the contemporary music an important part of his work dar.

Landauer occurred in many European houses and worked with renowned orchestras conductors and directors such as Philippe Arlaud, Brigitte Fassbaender, Achim Freyer, Thomas Hengelbrock, René Jacobs, The King 's Consort, Ton Koopman, Harry Kupfer, David Pountney, Nicola Raab or Mstislav Rostropovich together and can be heard on over 70 recordings.

Current projects 2014 production of George Benjamin's opera Written on Skin at the State Theatre Detmold, the pop opera You Us We All Shara Worden a sitcom Opera series of the Austrian composer Bernhard Gander for the Bregenz Festival and the Festival wien modern.

He lives in Salzburg since 2000.
