Berni Huber

Bernhard " Berni" Huber ( born July 11, 1967 in Obermaiselstein ) is a former German ski racer. Earlier in his career he was especially successful in the combination, and later in downhill and super -G. Overall, he scored six top ten results in the World Cup.

Making his first appearance at an international level he had at the Junior World Championships 1985 in Jasna. There he came in the downhill at number 12, in the giant slalom and the slalom in 24th place to 8th place, with which he won the bronze medal in the combination. The first points in the World Cup he won in January 1988 in Bad Kleinkirchheim. There he finished in eleventh place in the combination. The first top- ten finish in the World Cup later succeeded him a year in a combination of Wengen. His first World Ski Championships he competed in 1989 in Vail. He came there only in the combination used and reached 10th place, the best World Cup result of his career. He celebrated his biggest World Cup victory with his only podium finish in December 1990 in Val Gardena. Going down the Saslong he finished second behind the Swiss Franz Heinzer and before Atle Skårdal from Norway. Shortly afterwards, at the World Cup in 1991 in Saalbach -Hinterglemm, he came in 12th place in the downhill. The 40th place in the overall World Cup and the 13th place in the downhill World Cup of the season 1990/91 were his best placements in these ratings. At the Olympic Winter Games in Albertville in 1992 Berni Huber came in nineteenth place in the downhill and super-G in position 31. In the 1992/93 season Berni Huber fell out with torn ACL. In 1995 he became German champion and 1996 German downhill champion in the super -G. Previously, he had at the World Championships in 1996 in the Sierra Nevada or the spaces 31 and 34 is in downhill and super -G. A bad fall in January 1997 in Chamonix ended his career prematurely.

By 2003, Huber worked as a coach, most recently as European Cup coach of the men in the German Ski Association. Since 2003 he has been managing director of the ski Grasgehren.
