Bertil Nyström

Alexis Bertil Nyström ( May 22nd, 1935 in Gråmanstorp, Skåne ) is a former Swedish wrestler and winner of the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964 and Vice World Champion 1961 at the Greco-Roman. Style in the welterweight division.

Career

Bertil Nyström comes from Klippan and was one of the first wrestler from this town, the ( Ringer Club ) penetrated at the local " Brottning club" in Swedish and in the top. This wrestler Club developed at the beginning of the 1960s, virtually out of nowhere to become a leading Swedish wrestler clubs. Bertil focused exclusively on the Greco-Roman. At the Olympic Games in Rome in 1960 he admittedly came to a win and a draw against weaker wrestler, but then lost to Matti Laakso from Finland and the later Olympic champion Mithat Bayrak from Turkey and ended up in 11th place.

In 1962 Bertil was not used in the World Cup. In 1963 he was in Helsingborg but there again and won with four victories and defeats against Rudolf Vespers from Rostock and Anatoly Kolesov from the USSR the bronze medal.

The climax of the career of Bertil Nyström were the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964. He brought there the feat to stay unbeaten in seven fights and yet to win three fights. Four times he fought draw, with which he won the bronze medal.

In the years 1965-1968 Bertil started four times at international championships. His best results were there two fourth places at the European Championships 1966 in Essen and 1968 in Västerås.

Bertil also denied, as was customary, a number of countries fighting. He scored this many a respectable result.
