Kazım Ayvaz

Kâzım Ayvaz ( born March 10, 1938 in Rize ) is a former Turkish wrestler.

Career

Kazim Ayvaz began in 1953 as a 15 -year-old teenager with rings. His first success in the youth and junior level lined up soon. He wrestled exclusively in the Greco-Roman style, which in itself is a rarity for Turkish wrestlers who prefer mostly the free style. His club was "Istanbul Güres Ihtisas Kulübü " in Fatih, Istanbul. In 1957 he was first Turkish welterweight champion and was subsequently used in international championships. For its first participation in such a he was in 1958, when at age 20, equal to world champion in Budapest. His toughest rival in their own country at the time was Mithat Bayrak, the double Olympic champion in 1956 and 1960 welterweight. Since he was inferior in excretion for the 1960 Olympics in Rome Bayrak welterweight, he had in Rome start in the middleweight class, it had to take a certain physical disadvantage in buying and so finished only 4th place. Four years later he took after the Olympic victory in Tokyo. This time he started at lightweight after 1962 by FILA Wrestling World Association of a new weight class division had been made. He was unexpectedly Olympic champion, after he had lost in 1963 at the World Championships even a whimper against the outsider Moissidis, Greece and Skauen, Norway. Kazim Ayvaz remained active until 1969, but could not repeat his great successes in the early 1960s.

After the end of his active career, he Ringer belonged for many years to the coaching staff of the Turkish national team wrestler. For his contributions to the sport wrestler he was taken in September 2011 in the FILA International Wrestling Hall of Fame.
