Betliar

Betliar ( Betler German, Hungarian Betler ) is a municipality in eastern Slovakia. It is located about 6 km from Rožňava in the southeastern part of the Slovak Ore Mountains in the Valley of Slaná.

The village was first mentioned in writing in 1330 as Bethler. Today, the site of the castle Betliar is known. It was built at the beginning of the 18th century on the foundations of an older Renaissance castle.
