Betty Box

Betty Evelyn Box, Betty E. Box ( born September 25, 1915 in Beckenham, Kent, United Kingdom, † 15 January 1999 Chiltern ) was a British film producer.

Life and work

Betty Box began her career in the 30s as a commercial artist. About her older brother, producer Sydney Box, she joined the local film industry and worked during the Second World War, as his assistant at over 200 short propaganda films. These were to contract work of the government and the army.

1946 Betty began her career box with the production of feature films for Gainsborough Pictures, starting with an unnamed production line in the intervening years. Their product range includes films by de facto all popular genres: comedies, dramas, crime and adventure films. With her ​​move to Pinewood Studios in 1950 it produced almost all productions of the comedy specialist Ralph Thomas, including the seven productions of Doctor film series.

Until her death Betty Box was good for 50 years married to the film producer Peter Rogers. Your sister in law was the film director and writer Muriel Box.
