Sydney Box

Sydney Box ( born April 29, 1907 in Beckenham, † 25 May 1983; Perth ) was a British film producer and screenwriter.

Sydney Box worked as a journalist and wrote several stage plays. From 1935 he wrote the screenplays with his wife Muriel Box. In 1939 he founded his own production company Verity Films, among other things, Films for the British military produced. In 1943 he hired at the Riverside Studios and put the focus more on the production of films.

With his wife, he won 1947 Oscar for best original screenplay for Compton Bennett's The Seventh Veil. In the same year moved to Box Gainsborough Pictures and there replaced Maurice Ostrer. In 1951 he received an Oscar nomination in the category Best Sound. The price finally went to the 20th Century- Fox Sound Department for the film All About Eve. 1958 Box moved to television and was involved in the founding of Tyne Tees Television. He continued his production work continued until 1967 and then emigrated to Australia where he died in 1983.
