Betty Buckley

Betty Buckley ( born July 3, 1947 in Big Spring (Texas ), Texas, native Betty Lynn Buckley ) is an American actress and singer.

Life and achievements

Buckley took in 1966 in the competitions Miss Texas Pageant and Miss Fort Worth part. She completed a degree at Texas Christian University. Her first film role, she received in the horror film Carrie - In Satan's youngest daughter from 1976, in which she played the teacher, Mrs. Collins. In the film drama comeback of Love ( 1983), which received other honors besides two Oscars, she starred opposite Robert Duvall. For her role in the episode Bobby and Sarah the television series NBC Special Treat ( 1984) she was nominated in 1985 for a Daytime Emmy.

In the thriller Frantic (1988 ) by Roman Polanski Buckley played the role of Sondra Walker, the kidnapped wife of doctor Richard Walker (Harrison Ford). For her performance in the episode Taking a Stand in the television series ABC Afterschool Specials 1989 she was again nominated for a Daytime Emmy. In the comedy Simply Irresistible (1999) she played alongside Sarah Michelle Prinze.

Buckley is also known as a theater actress. For her role as Grizabella in the musical Cats in 1983, she received a Tony Award. In 1998, it was, in which she played the role in the musical Triumph of Love for F. Murray Abraham, for the Tony Award nominated. As a singer she has twice been nominated for a Grammy Award.

Buckley was married in 1972 to 1979, Peter Flood.
