Biely Kostol

Biely Kostol ( until 1927 slovak " Biele Kostoly " or " Biely Kostol "; German white churches, Hungarian Pozsonyfehéregyház - to 1907 Fehéregyház, latin Albanus ) is a city and a municipality in the Trnavský kraj Okres Trnava in western Slovakia. The number of inhabitants amounted at 31 December 2009 to 1,405 persons.

Geography

The municipality is located in Danube hilly five kilometers west of the city of Trnava, on the banks of the river rake Parna.

History

The place is mentioned for the first time in 1332-37 a directory of church tithing as Alba Ecclesia in writing. Initially belonging to the city of Trnava community often changed its owners. 1711 burnt down the whole place, 1719 was the Esterházy family, a country palace called Albanus (after a Jesuit villa near Rome ), which served as a summer residence build.

Until 1918, the place was in the county Pressburg in the Kingdom of Hungary and came afterwards to the newly formed Czechoslovakia. From 1 November 1974 to 1992 the community was part of the city of Trnava.
