Big Falls is a small town ( with a status of "City" ) in Koochiching County in the U.S. state of Minnesota. In 2010 Big Falls had 236 inhabitants.

Geography

Big Falls is located in northern Minnesota near the Canadian border in the Big Fork River, a tributary of the Rainy River. The town is located at 48 ° 11'28 " north latitude, 93 ° 48'24 " west longitude and extending 15.7 km ².

Towns nearby are Big Falls Grand Falls ( on the opposite bank of the Big Fork River), Littlefork (33,1 km northeast) and Margie (15,5 km southwest).

The U.S. Highway 71 leads in northeast -southwest direction as the main road through Big Falls, where it meets with the Minnesota State Route 6 together at the northern terminus. All other roads are subordinate and partly unpaved roadways and within local roads.
