Littlefork is a small town ( with a status of "City" ) in Koochiching County in the north of the U.S. state of Minnesota. In 2010 Littlefork had 647 inhabitants.

Geography

Littlefork is located in northern Minnesota near the Canadian border on the Little Fork River, a tributary of the Rainy River. The town is located at 48 ° 23'56 " north latitude, 93 ° 33'21 " west longitude and extending over 3.08 km ².

History

In the late 19th century, the first white settlers came to the region and settled along the Little Fork River, as the rivers at that time formed the only road access. The logging and the associated processing time was the most important industry.

In 1904, the desire of the residents was presented to the competent authorities in the County and the State to establish an independent municipality.
