Bill Mackey

William " Bill" Mackey (born William Gretsinger; * December 15, 1927 in Dayton, Ohio; † July 29, 1951 in Winchester, Indiana) was an American race car driver.

Career

Bill Mackey started 1949-1951 in six races for the AAA National Series. He scored his best result in 1951 in Darlington in a Meyer- Offenhauser fourth.

His only start at the 500 miles of Indianapolis, he graduated in 1951 on a Hall - Offenhauser. He retired on lap 97 with a damage to the clutch linkage. Since this race between 1950 and 1960 belonged to the Drivers' World Championship is also a Grand Prix start should be recorded for him.
