Bill Pullman

William James " Bill" Pullman ( born December 17, 1953 in Hornell, New York ) is an American actor.

Life

Bill Pullman, was born as the son of the physician James Pullman and his wife Joanna, a nurse. While most of his six siblings also aspired to a medical career, Bill was interested early for theater and film.

After high school he studied at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and received his Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Studies ( Theatre / Directing ). He produced his own plays and has lectured at Montana State University. In New York he was in Curse of the Starving Class his debut on the stage and played in several Broadway plays. On 24 May 2008, awarded an honorary doctorate by Bill Pullman from the University of Massachusetts.

Even after moving to Los Angeles Pullman first worked only in theaters before he participated in 1987 in Mel Brooks sci-fi spoof Spaceballs, through which he achieved his breakthrough as a film actor. This was followed by appearances in the hit films The Accidental Tourist, Sleepless in Seattle, While You Were Sleeping and Casper. In 1996, he starred in Roland Emmerich's Independence Day the U.S. president who keeps the human race from extinction by aliens.

In 2000, he was with the Western country of outlaws his debut as a director. The following year, he staged an episode of Night Visions.

Pullman's German voice actor is Detlef Bierstedt.

Private

Pullman is married since 1987 with Tamara Hurwitz, with whom he has three children. He lives with his family part of the year on a cattle farm near Whitehall, Montana. The farm belongs to him and his brother. Pullman is known as a bird lover, he operates along with the boxer Mike Tyson a resort in Paradise Valley, Arizona. Tyson keeps there about 350 pigeons.
