Billie Dawe

Billie "Bill" Dawe ( born June 8, 1924 in Cochrane, Alberta, † May 20 2013 in Edmonton ) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player. At the Olympic Winter Games in 1952 he won the gold medal as a member of the Canadian national team.

Career

Billie Dawe spent his career as a hockey player with the Edmonton Mercurys, with whom he represented Canada at the World Championships in 1950 and 1952 at the Olympic Winter Games in Oslo. After the Olympic Winter Games 1952, he ended his career as a hockey player and henceforth worked for the sponsor of his former hockey team, the Edmonton Auto Sales Waterloo Mercury. Later, Dawe was one of the managers and co-owner of the company, together with his former teammate Al Purvis.

Internationally

For Canada Dawe participated in the Olympic Winter Games in 1952 in part in Oslo, where he won the gold medal with his team. In eight games, he scored as team captain each six goals and six assists. Previously, he had already won the World Cup 1950 with his team the gold medal.
