Bingen Forest

History

Megalithic tombs such as that south-east of Dichtelbach, castles and today's settlements and villages suggest that the Bingen Forest and its surroundings has been settled for a long time. From the Roman period are the remains of the Villa Rustica and a building rest near the lodge Lauschhütte. By Binger Wald led the Ausoniusstraße, which was used as a military connection between Bingen and Trier.
