Lautzenhausen

Lautzenhausen is a municipality in the Rhein- Hunsrück district, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Kirchberg (Hunsrück ).

Geography

The place and the district are located on a plateau amidst the hilly landscape of the Hunsrück. In large parts of the district is the airport Frankfurt -Hahn. The connection to the non-local traffic is given over which a kilometer from the city state road 50.

History

During the construction of the runway of the air base in 1951 next to the former route of the Hunsrückhöhenstraße was an approximately 100 grave mound comprehensive about three km of early historical burial ground found which is attributed to the Hunsrück- Eifel culture. Some finds were recovered and are now in the museum of local history in simmering. A systematic excavation was not possible due to time and financial reasons. More found on the boundary wall, fountain and foundation remains and numerous pottery shards indicate a villa rustica from the Roman period, which unfortunately was not excavated scientifically. Well documented is the finding of a well to this villa belonging to rich fire tomb from the second half of the 1st century AD, the settled on the Moselhöhe Treverians, the hill was opened in 1928 ( findings in simmering ).

The name of the place with the ending to -hausen indicates an occupation of the country during the period of Frankish conquest. The name part like Lautzen ( pointing to the settlement of a Louis / Lutzen and its descendants.

The first written mention of Sponheim Court in Lautzenhausen dates from 1260. The checkerboard pattern blue / yellow in today's local coat of arms comes from the Sponheimern. With the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine in 1794 by French revolutionary troops, the place was French, 1814, he was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna. Since 1946 it has been part of the newly founded state of Rhineland- Palatinate.

Until the 1950s the village was agricultural. This changed with the construction of today for civilian use airport.
