Uhler

Uhler is a municipality in the Rhein- Hunsrück district, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Kastellaun.

Geography

Uhler is located on a ridge in the central Hunsrück, about two kilometers north of the Hunsrückhöhenstraße.

To Uhler include the residential places Grafe mill, mill Junker, Neumühlestrasse and Sulzmühle.

History

Uhler was first mentioned in 1200 in a document from the imperial abbey of St. Maximin in Trier as owilre. Uhler belonged to Dreiherrischen Beltheimer court. With the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine in 1794 by French revolutionary troops, the place was French, 1815, he was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna. After the First World War temporarily again occupied by the French, the place is since 1946 part of Rhineland- Palatinate.

The local council in Uhler consists of eight council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms is reminiscent of the masters of the Dreiherrischen Court in Braunshorn. The main shield of the Counts of Sponheim, the red cross to the reign of the Electorate of Trier and the silver bugle to the noblemen of brown horn. The black wings carried the knights of the Keyser " Owilre ".
