Biebern

Biebern is a municipality in the Rhein- Hunsrück district, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality simmering / Hunsrück.

Geography

Biebern located in the Beaver centrally located in the Hunsrück between the federal highway 50 and the Hunsrückhöhenstraße.

History

The place was first mentioned in 754 as Biberahu pago Nafinsi in a deed to the monastery of Fulda. In the 11th century it came into the possession of the monastery Ravengiersburg which the appellant was made by Duke George of simmering in the year 1566. Until 1673 Biebern belonged to the Duchy of Pfalz- Palatinate part simmering, from 1673 to the Electoral Palatinate. 1689 the Simultaneum was introduced in Biebern, 1770 possessed both denominations at the site of a church. Coat of arms

The blazon of the arms is: " split from silver and blue; forward a continuous black cross, rear a silver scale, about two churches. "

The black cross in silver refers to the former rich immediate Benedictine abbey of Fulda, 754 of its forest proportion bequeathed to the Noble Eggiolt in Biebern. The two churches are reminiscent of the two houses of worship in the place, the balance to the Bieberner " hired house ", which held the Augustinian Canons Ravengiersburg.
