Perscheid

The Rheinhöhenort Perscheid is a municipality in the Rhein- Hunsrück district, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Sankt Goar - Oberwesel.

Geography

Perscheid is located on the eastern edge of the Hunsrück on a ridge between the Rhine Valley and the A 61

History

Excavations and finds tomb to let Perscheid on colonization during the Hallstatt period (~ 1500-1200 BC) close. Finds ( coins, foundations, temple fragments) from the Roman period indicate a settlement from this period. The first documentary mention of experiencing the place in 1248 as a village community Perrischeit. The sovereignty exercised the Archbishopric of Trier. After the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine by French revolutionary troops (1794 ) the place was French and was from 1798 to 1814 for Canton Bacharach in the Rhine- Moselle department. 1815, the region was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna. After the First World War temporarily occupied by the French, the place is since 1946 part of Rhineland- Palatinate then newly founded.

Policy

Since 14 November 2007 Michael Jäckel is the new mayor of the municipality and solves so off after 18 ½ years Hugo Hubel, who resigned from his position on 20 May 2007.

Parish council

The local council in Perscheid consists of eight council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

The blazon is: " In silver over red split shields in front a red cross beams, rear -ended an aligned silver four deer rack".

Attractions

  • Not far from the town is the high Wildlife Park Rheinboellen.
  • Southwest of the village there is one of the largest protected areas of Rhineland -Palatinate connects. The budding raised bog is home to many rare plant species such as orchids, daphne and arnica. Here you will find traces of settlements of the lost village folk Bach, as well as Roman settlement traces on the Hellenpütz and Celtic grave sites. The surroundings of the place is riddled with underground galleries of Bacharach slate mine, as well as by former copper mines from the north.
