Braunshorn

Brown Horn is a municipality in the highlands of the Hunsrück in the Rhein- Hunsrück district, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Kastellaun.

Community structure

The district Braunshorn is the namesake of the municipality Brown Horn. The municipality consists of the villages of brown horn with 239 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2010), Dudenroth and Ebschied.

History

The districts Braunshorn and Dudenroth belonged in the Middle Ages under the jurisdiction of the barons of brown horn. In both places there are remains of medieval castles, called moths. Presumably, the moth is in Braunshorn the ancestral home of the aristocratic family, which is first mentioned in 1098. 1268 moved the family to their headquarters to Beilstein. In 1273 the castle was sold to the Braunshorn Palatine. After the extinction of Brown Horner ownership coincided with the two places to the Lords of Winneburg, 1652 Metternich.

With the annexation of the left bank of the Rhine (1794 ) by French revolutionary troops, the place was French. From 1798 to 1814 Brown Horn belonged to the Canton Kastellaun in the Rhine- Moselle department, and from 1800 to the Mairie Gödenroth. Because of the Congress of Vienna (1815 ) agreements, the region was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia. Under the Prussian administration came Braunshorn together with Dudenroth 1816 for mayor Pfalzfeld in the district Sankt Goar and Koblenz Region in the province of the Grand Duchy of the Lower Rhine ( 1822 Rhine Province ). After World War II temporarily occupied by the French, the place is since 1946 part of Rhineland- Palatinate then newly founded. Today's church was established on March 17, 1974 by the merger in the form of a neoplasm of the previously independent municipalities Brown Horn (then 205 inhabitants), Dudenroth (101) and Ebschied (177).
