Maitzborn

Maitzborn is a municipality in the Rhein- Hunsrück district, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Kirchberg (Hunsrück ).

Geography

Maitzborn is centrally located in the Hunsrück region, near the town of Kirchberg. East of the village is the Kauerbachtal, west of the village the main road 421

History

Maitzborn was probably settled in Frankish times. The first mention is found in Sponheim gradient register and dated from the year 1304. With the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine in 1794 by French revolutionary troops, the place was French, 1815, he was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna. Since 1946 it has been part of the newly founded state of Rhineland- Palatinate.
