Benzweiler

Benzweiler is a municipality in the Rhein- Hunsrück district, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Rheinboellen.

Geography

Benzweiler is located northwest of Rheinboellen on the Hunsrück. The municipality also includes the residential places and Antoniushof Hubertushof.

History

Six barrows north-east of the village suggest a Celtic settlement. With the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine in 1794 by French revolutionary troops, the place was French, 1815, he was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna. Since 1946 it has been part of Rhineland- Palatinate then newly founded.
