Dill, Germany

Dill is a municipality in the Rhein- Hunsrück district, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Kirchberg (Hunsrück ).

Geography

Dill is in the valley of the brook Diller, of around 30 meters deep cuts into the plateau of the Hunsrück, in a flow loop. These flows around a mountain spur, on which the castle is situated. Parts of the village also extend over the southern slope of the spur and on the saddle, with the spur is connected to the east with the plateau. Two kilometers east of the village flows the Sohrbach in the Kyrbach. In the north of the district of the historic Ausoniusstraße runs.

History

In Reichenbach gift book is a " Landegerus de Tila " is named for the year 1090. It is unclear whether this is meant dill. Presumably this came from the city of Tiel in the Netherlands.

The first certain mention of Dill comes from the year 1107 as a Adalbert, comes de Dille, as a witness to the foundation charter of the monastery Springiersbach makes its appearance. Castle dill

At the highest point of the plant to the north, the upper castle is located. Historical Buildings

The small Protestant church was built in 1701 at the site and using the material of the former castle chapel. Inside, paintings of the church painter Johann Georg Engisch are from the year 1714.
