Schwarzen

Black is a municipality in the Rhein- Hunsrück district, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Kirchberg (Hunsrück ).

Geography

Black is located in a valley in the central Hunsrück, between Hunsrückhöhenstraße B 327 and the federal road 50

Surrounding villages are: Würrich (2 km ), Upper Kostenz (2 km), Lower Kostenz ( 4 km), Kappel ( 6 km), Kludenbach ( 6 km), Todenroth (8 km) and Metzenhausen (10 km).

History

The first mention in 1259 can be found in a document of the Wild Count Conrad and Count Gerlach of Veldenz. With the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine in 1794 by French revolutionary troops, the place was French, 1815, he was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna. After the First World War at times again occupied by the French, the place is since 1946 part of the newly founded state of Rhineland- Palatinate. The community was most beautiful village in the Rhine- Hunsrück-Kreis district decision in 1998.

Parish council

The local council in black consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.
