Spesenroth

Spesenroth is a municipality in the Rhein- Hunsrück district, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Kastellaun.

Geography

Spesenroth is centrally located in the Hunsrück. The village is located on a hilltop between the southern and the northern city of Külzbachtal Kastellaun. The district Spesenroth covers an area of 3.51 km ², of which 0.32 km ² mixed forest.

History

Spesenroth is first mentioned in 1427 and was part of Sponheim Office Kastellaun. With the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine in 1794 by French revolutionary troops, the place was French, 1815, he was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna. After the First World War temporarily again occupied by the French, the place is since 1946 part of Rhineland- Palatinate then newly founded.

The oblique bar has previous affiliation of Spesenroth to Rear County of Sponheim, Office Kastellaun out. The blue cuckoo takes speaking with respect to the still used nickname of the villagers. Juniper and juniper berries indicate the " juniper beating" and the Krammetsvogelfang at the expense Rother Heath. This Heath was for centuries an object of dispute among communities Kastellaun, Alterkuelz and Spesenroth. Today, it is for the most part to the district Spesenroth.
