Niedersohren

Niedersohren is a municipality in the Rhein- Hunsrück district, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Kirchberg (Hunsrück ).

Geography

The rural municipality Niedersohren lies in the valley of the Sohrbachs centrally located in the Hunsrück. The district covers 3.90 km ², of which 0.89 km ² of forest. To Niedersohren includes the Niedersohrener yard.

North of the village, the B 50, runs south the historic Ausoniusstraße. Four kilometers northwest of Niedersohren is the Frankfurt-Hahn Airport. Niedersohren is located approximately four kilometers south-west of the geographical center of the Rhineland- Palatinate. The cities of Mainz, Koblenz and Trier are almost equidistant.

History

Roman settlement at the Ausoniusstraße and near the present-day Anna Court has been demonstrated. 1301 the place with the imperial Sohren Eberhard of Sponheim was prescribed the kingdom as a fief belonged since the County of Sponheim. In the 18th century the Margrave of Baden was the inheritance of the Counts of Sponheim sovereign. With the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine in 1794 by French revolutionary troops, the place was French, 1815, he was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna. After World War II temporarily occupied by the French, the place is since 1946 part of Rhineland- Palatinate.

Parish council

The local council in Niedersohren consists of eight council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Theater

Structures

In the center is the Old Backes, housed there, the volunteer Fire Department. As a new building to the right of Backes is the new village hall.

About two kilometers from the town center is located between Niedersohren and dill a massive replica of a watchtower from the Roman period, as well as a shelter with " Roman Games ". From a Roman tower, there is a good view of the Idarkopf and Frankfurt-Hahn Airport.

Ausoniusstraße

On tower and hut over the Ausoniusstraße runs. This road, or rather this way was originally created by the Romans and used in ancient times lively. The Ausonius extends from Bingen to Trier.
